Hey everyone
How has this week been treating for you? I trust we are winging it and winning. Myself I am trying to hang in there and do my very possible best. I believe that when we do our best in any situation we are in, if nothing else happens we will feel the peace of having tried, of having given till there was no more to give. and then we can with a peaceful heart leave the rest to God.
One thing bothers me though, how do you know when you have done your best, how do you know when to say there is nothing else I can do? For some people there may be an easy answer to this but not for me. Especially with my business, I give and give and do and do and I don't believe I have given enough till I have achieved success. I mean how can it be my best if I have not achieved my goals?
How do you do know when to leave the rest to God as the adage goes? I have been trying to make my first movie for sometime now and nothing seem to be working. I have practically tried all ways and done all things I can do, spoken to brands, business partners, friends and family and nothing seem to have worked. I want to know is it time to throw in towel, fold my hands and leave it to God?
I need answers readers. Can I even be happy doing nothing to bring out my goals? Is this what it is all about, knowing when to cease adding work to faith and trusting that God would perform all the work?
The answer I keep coming up with is that I can't give up. There must still be other ways and other things I can do but I still keep wondering, if I keep trying to do it by myself when and how do I trust God enough to allow Him to do the rest. As I am writing, I keep getting the inspiration that one does not exist without the other
That is faith, work, patience and prayers. These four must come first before miracles. I cannot have faith and not have work to show for it. The work here may sound like this prayer by Nephi a Book of Mormon prophet when he was asked to build a ship to cross the many waters and he asked. 'whither shall I go to find ore to molten' so that he can make the tools he needed to build the ship. he and his family had been travelling alone in wilderness for eight years and had no way of cutting timbers let alone to build a ship. The lesson here is that he didn't put his helpless situation first. He didn't expect God to understand his lack of resources and throw down tools from Heaven to build the ship. After all it was Him who commanded them to take the journey in the first place. He was not afraid of the work so instead of asking for already made tools, He asked for where he could find the raw materials to make the tools. This story has always been a great lesson for me. At this point, could he not have accepted that he has done enough and asked God to do the rest. The eight year journey on foot has worn him and family out, the least He could do was provide a ship or at most the tools to build it.
Another story that inspires me is also from the book of Mormon. It is also about another prophet who needed to cross the great deep with his family. This time around they built what they called barges and made it water tight to hold water like a dish. the problem was that there was no source of light and the prophet despaired how they were going to travel in the sea in darkness so he asked the Lord but Lord answered with a question 'What would thou have me do for you so you might have light' the prophet didn't expect this question, he had thought the Lord with a flick of his wrist would give them light. what he didn't know was that the Lord would ask him to put on his thinking cap. So he had make use of his brain and come up with a solution of how best his mode of transportation might be lighted.
The truth is I still don't know where the adage do your best and leave the rest to God came from or what it really means but this I know, Heavenly Father expects us to use our brains. He expects us to never give up. He wants us to do our part. And when we have done that, then His grace is sufficient.
Another scripture goes like this 'For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things, for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward' the next verse goes like this 'Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in good cause and do many things of their own freewill, and bring to pass much righteousness. for the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And in as much as men do good they shall in no wise loose their reward. But he that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and receiveth the commandment with a doubtful heart, and keepeth it with slothfulness, the same is damned.
So I believe in prayers, I believe in having faith that prayers will be answered, I also believe in work, the readiness to do what is necessary to achieve our goals and I believe in patience not just for prayers to be answered but with ourselves and our efforts. If these things are present in all our endeavors, then we are a success already.
Pray like it depends solely on God, work like it depends solely on you. Get on your knees and pray but get on feet and work. If you get this formula right then your result would be success.
Heavenly Father has blessed us all with talents and gifts, it is time to start thinking about how to develop these talents.
